Which Newspaper is best?

D

Ok silly question but which is the best newspaper to read to keep up with current affairs. I currently get the independant but am finding my supervisors keep quoting from the guardian?
Theres no way I am bright enough to manage the times though!!!
What do you all read to keep yourselves informed?

J

I read the Guardian. Used to read Independant but found it way too self-important and biased on many issues (specifically organic food/GM, medical issues and foreign policy). I want a paper to give me facts, not opinions (though the Guardain is heading the same way, it seems).

K

I read the times, well ok, I read T2 and do the sudoku and half the crossword but I think that still counts!

D

Katq.....

H

I used to read the Guardian everyday when I was working but during the PhD, I just can't be bothered to buy a paper when I can just read the news online.

H

Agree with you Juno about the direction Guardian is taking, I reckon is used to be much less biased!

D

Mmmm seems like the guardian is winning out...although the thought of attempting (note I say attempting not completeing) the Times crossword is appealing.
I like to read a paper with breakfast when everyone else has left the house...unless I can persuade hubby we need a comp in the kitchen...I don't think he will buy it though!!! I dare not sign up for the bbc news alerts or I would never get any work done!!!

I'm a Times man - they don't seem to print hysterical articles all the time.

T

I'm too stupid to do the crossword though (or the Sudoko)

D

mmmmm now I am torn between the times and the guardian......I do think the independent def. has to go it just pee'd me off reading it this morning...although I would miss Alex James contribution his column is quite witty.....decisions decisions

S

Yes, I'm a Times man (it was brilliant when it used to be 10p in the mid-90s). That said, these days I only have time to buy the Sunday Times.

we could put Times and Guardian on a bath full of water (or the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park) exactly at the same time, and see which one is going to sink first.

D

Mmm 404...could you please submit a detailed research proposel including methodology explaining how you would compensate for outside factors and what your control newspaper would be.
I will then consider your proposel and seek funding for an in field experiment in London...or a bath tub of your choice....he he he

dazednconfused, as a background study, before submitting a proposal, I reckon we should all get together at a nearby lake, and cheer for the newspaper of our choice. Then, may the best paper win. Oops I mean according to the results, we can propose this as a bigger experiment at Serpentine, preferably with a bigger crowd.

D

Mmm may I suggest a comparative analysis of overseas rivers and oceans...say The Med? My justification of this would be to ascertain the effect warm liquid has on the material as oppsosed to the freezing conditions prevelant in Britain.
Also would the addition of alcohol and a nice tan in anyway skew the results????
