Acceptance!

G

After 4 daunting interviews I received an offer and have been accepted. Thanks to the findaphd team for this great resource and to forum members for replying to my questions. Good luck to everyone still applying. Cheers.

G

Congratulations Anonymous! Welcome to the wonderful world of the PhD student ;o) When will you start?

G

Congrats on your success and well done! I have been waiting for nearly two weeks now and have not heard from the university. I was the last but 2 candidates they were interviewing of about 10 and there are 3 PhD places. Do you think that if I had been passed over I would have been informed by now? The wait is agonising!! How long (approx) before I get a decision? Cheers Andy xx

G

Thanks! I start this fall. Andy I always finished an interview by asking when I could expect to hear from them. From the information you posted, I'd guesstimate a response within 1-2 weeks assuming the deadline has passed. Good luck - hope to see you at foundaphd.com ;) =P

Glad to be of help anonymous. Once you start your PhD don't forget to keep returning to the forum to share your experiences. Better if you pick a name though, there's an awfull lot of Anons about. Good luck.

G

Yes I agree - thank you to Find a PhD from me too - I got my PhD working with birds, a really great project, supervisor and lab after about 4 scary interviews!! Glad that part of my life is all over, now I can get down to work!!

G

Sure, I'll be back. Hopefully not to start another "had enough" thread !

Hi Guys, I recently got an offer too- it was my first interview and the PhD I really wanted, so I'm dead chuffed. This website and comments certainly helped. Looking forward to October now! (I'm sure I will hate the PhD sometimes too in the future though). I think the research environment you will be in and how you interact with people there, and how their fields relate to your interests, are almost as important as the PhD topic!

p.s. I haven't posted on here before, by the way. And good luck to all those waiting for offers and interviews! Will certainly continue to use this site.

I want a pHD!! But I've been rejected from the only two I've found that I want to do... its such a hard balance of finding an exciting thing to study in a place you want to do it..

G

Congratulations mate and everyone who has got the PhD of thier choice. I have been rejected by one, can you believe it they didnt even bother to tell me I had to keep calling, until one morning when I woke I found I had a voice message telling me the supervisor had filled the position. Im waiting for another application I sent...I hate waiting, because its always bad news. Ive never survived an interview, so it doesnt look like any one is going to want me!!!!
