Atopic Eczema

G

I have atopic eczema. Although it is not bothering me right now, it is persistent and moderately severe, with my hands affected. I am worried if it may affect carrying out lab work as it may irritate my hands. I would like to ask what kind of PhD would involve little contact with chemicals and is more "dry"? (I am interested in doing a science or engineering degree)

G

What is your first degree and what are your specific interests?

G

I haven't got a first degree, but am deciding which course to go into. I would most probably do a science or engineering degree, intending to pursue PhD after that.

G

Um, good scientists don't get chemicals on their hands =P

G

Can't answer for all areas, but molecular biology might prove difficult, as you'll wear gloves a lot. Still, there are special gloves etc, so I think it can be done. However, fields such as theoretical chemistry are mostly computer-based.

Bioinformatics?

interesting....i can see your problem but surely you are not going to make your choice of career around it? maybe decide what u want to do first then see whether it's feasible with your skin condition?
