What's the best platform for designing a poster? Never presented a poster before, but making an exception in this case.

Powerpoint. Mind you, that's all I've ever used.

I used Powerpoint, and used one of my supervisor's posters as a starting template.

Powerpoint, make sure you size it correctly to the size you are printing though.
