Can anybody help?

A

Hi guys:

I finished my masters at Essex and got a distinction in the MA dissertation, but I still cannot get an offer for a PhD. I have already had 4 rejections from 4 different British Universities. All people tell me that my PhD proposal is fine, but then they fail to give me an offer. I am sponsored by the government which pays huge amounts of money every year. Can anybody guide me to an agency or some people who deal with universities to get me an offer? Give me suggestions please.

AS far as I am aware there are no agencies who will get you an offer.. It is something you have to do off your own back.

Unfortunately being rejected is common, as competition for PhD positions is high.. It might be worth contacting the universities and asking for feedback as to why you were rejected.

hey there,
what field are you in?

and where those four unis where you have applied so far by any chance four top-notch universities?

there are many possible reasons for rejections, and many that don't have anything to do with the quality of your application. for example, the person who would ideally be supervising you from the department where you are applying can be leaving for a sabbatical, or can have too many PhD students already. or, while the department is generally good, there might just not be the relevant expertise around for supervising you.
have you been just simply going through the regular (online?) application process? then i would suggest you get in contact with the potential supervisor first, next time you apply somewhere.
good luck!
