Hell o folks,
I am working as electronic engineer ( around £16000.00/year) for nearly 5 years.
It use to be very exciting but lately I feel like I am losing time and knowledge comparing to my old mates from university. I am 38 years old and I am not getting younger.
I am trying to change career. I enrol in master degree course studying Embedded and distributed system at university because I am familiar and comfortable which the subject.
I have to leave my job even it is not really the right time to be jobless ( I need to be working any how for the next 03 month at least). My boss doesn’t l want to let me have one day off to do master.:-s

I want to do this master so much but I am just worried when after spending money and effort and get my master don’t get a job in the same domain because of my age.
Ideally for me is do this master next year but the age is my concern.
My question, is there a big demand for this discipline and is the age a major factor when it come to select a candidate for the job.

I don't know about your profession or your area of study, but I reckon if you want a career change, go for it. I'm also older and trying to change careers. While I also have concerns that my age may count against me, I'm hoping that my general work experience, and now my studies and all the work I've done associated with my PhD will help me get a new research job. I think if you feel the need for a change, then it is a risk, but sometimes we need to take risks in life. Does the idea of not going for a new career and staying in your old job seem intolerable? If it does, then make the change. Life's too short to wonder about paths we didn't take - be brave and go for it!
