I’ve just started the Ph.D. the previous September in Education. I am doing the Ph.D. part time whilst setting up a business that has relevance to the subject. I managed to secure funding for the first year from a sponsor who has said that they can contribute x amount this year. Therefore I’m exploring various ways in which to fund the second year Ph.D. and charities are an option.

I have applied to an Educational charity earlier this year and have an opportunity to apply to another charity soon. My question is, does any person on here know of any charities who are likely to contribute towards part time tuition fees of Ph.Ds within Education or Social Sciences in general? My business is going to be up and running this year, but there will be a shortfall from my own predictions of what I am able to do and what money I could earn between now and when the second year begins. I have sent emails and letters off to many charities who have stated to provide Educational grants, but most have come back and said that they don’t fund Ph.Ds.

I’m thirty four years old, a male, and come from Cornwall. I know that this kind of information can also make all the difference to who you can apply!
