Hi

I just got my results this week and I got a first in microbiology which I was not expecting at all. Now I'm really confused about what I should do. I would love to do a PhD but my honours project was a dry one, so I was thinking it might be better to do a masters first to get some experience of lab work. Also I think I have left it really late for applying. Can anyone give me some advice?

Firstly, congratulations on your results! :O) I think the best thing you can do is talk to one of your undergraduate tutors - they will be better able to advise on your specific situation and may even be able to point you in the direction of some suitable studentships. Good luck.
