Finding a PhD with 2.2 in undergrad

J

Hi. I have completed my BEng with industrial placement in Aerospace Engineering obtaining 2.2 and masters of science in Aerospace Engineering with merit. Both occasion I missed 2.1 and distinction by margin where during my undergrad I had some medical and family issue that pull off my marks. Currently I am working as a Research Assistance in a top university in Bangladesh for 7 months and hopefully publishing two papers end of this year.
My dream is to pursue PhD from a good university and topic anywhere in Australia, Canada and UK with funding but my undergrad grads make me frightened. Is it possible to fulfill my dream with this background ? Please need your assistance.

Yes it is possible but you may need to try harder. You can write your publication list in CV and write they are under review. When they are accepted, your chances increase. Just try hard keeping in mind the competition is high and getting someone from outside EU to EU is sometimes a concern. Also if you look for English speaking countries like Canada, USA and Australia the competition is hard but if you try and try you might get your dream. Good luck

Normally, I would say a 2:2 would rule you out. However 2 publications in decent journals might make it possible. You should tailor your application and CV about those publications and all the work you have done during the RA. Show them the researcher skills you already have and nail down some good references.

But funding for international students in the EU can be VERY competitive. Goodluck!

A 2.2 will rule you out unless you have an MSc which then becomes more important than your 2.2 especially if you achieve a merit or distinction.

Having a 2:2 will absolutely not rule you out as I personally know of two people who have done this.
However, a 2:2 is a very poor academic baseline from which to attempt a PhD and I would never recommend anyone trying this without at least upgrading to a Masters first.
