Its like a monthly salary.
Only you can decide whether its enough. I just bought a Z4 with mine, so they are not too bad. Tax free as well.

G

Pep! Please let me know where you can buy a Z4 on a PhD fellowship?

G

I got a good discount with my NUS card

I had to google this to figure out what a Z4 was! You mean a BMW? If so, Doug, it's like what Stereophonics sing "and you can have it allllll if you like, and you, can pay for it the rest of yourrrrrrrr life!!". i.e. the PhD income is sufficient to get a loan. This is also intended as a disclaimer incases some government person drops by and decides these PhD students are too well off. It really isn't the case!

It's usually £12,000 per year and you don't pay tax or NI on that. It's paid quarterly or monthly.
