housemates driving you crazy?

R

Is anyone else finding living with others a nightmare? There's one girl in particular that lives in our house who is driving me crazy. I find her rather aggressive generally and difficult to talk to, in addition to this she thinks it is perfectly acceptable to have her boyfriend live with us almost all the time (rent free, bill free etc.) and i find myself supplying the toilet rolls for both of them and cleaning up after them! It's really getting to me! Plus my boyfrind and I own the house, and since she WAS a friend she's proving very difficult to get rid of, we asked when she was moving on, she didn't take it well and accused us of kicking her out early (I wish!)

How about talking to her about this situation and suggesting.... (what you want- that she moves out; her boyfriend pays bills; they buy their own toilet paper etc)?

I was ready to kill my neighbour tonight. He was cooking at 3am in kitchen which is next to my bedroom, grrrr....If he will do it one more time, I will talk to him.

yes talking to her is probably the most sensible option, it's just a bit difficult because she seems to quite enjoy tension and arguments and is really quite difficult to talk to. We have mentioned most of the problems and she just sort of says yeah i'll do that washing up, and i'll talk to him about paying towards bills etc etc! and of course it never happens!

give her an ultimatum, tell her that things change in the next week or so, or she will have to get out. Ignore the kicking and screaming she may try, you own the house, and you can do what you like.

She sounds unreasonable, and certainly doesn't sound like a friend.

set deadlines til what she should sort things out and make clear what consequences will be if she doesnt, and stick to that.

Tell her that you think her living with both of you is going to affect your friendship and she should start looking for her own place. If that doesn't work, everytime she leaves her stuff lying around, bin it.

W

LOL H. Putting her stuff in the bin is something I would have done!

Give her the month's notice and kick her out.

Thanks for your replies, and advice. Nevermind the phd being stressful, it's the housemates!!

Will try the more blunt approach i think! hehe
