Anyone else in the same position as me? I submitted about a month ago, my viva is in November. I'm trying to find a job and it seems like a seriously pointless task.

I'm so bored at home by myself all day :-( Sometimes I actually wish I was still writing my thesis because at least it was a reason to get out of bed in the morning (and I hated writing my thesis....!) :-s

Could you have a go at getting some publications written out of your thesis, unless you've already done that? Or think about putting proposals together for funding? Or bake some cakes mmmmm.

The grass is always greener, i guess...I'm submitting in 10 days time (ARGH!!!), the prospect of having the freedom of my time to do things i want to do is very appealing.  It's all that's keeping me going.

Half my thesis is published anyway, and nothing happened in the other half! :p I made a cake at the weekend for a friend's party, but there's still some left. I had some earlier with a cup of tea :-) I might bake some more later this week.... :-x

I wouldn't know where to start with a proposal..... :$

If I had some free time I'd play through super mario galaxy 2 on the wii, then I'd have a chick flick marathon, then I might do something crafty (not evil crafty, like making crafty)

Oooooh I'm soooooo jealous :p Yes the grass is always greener and being in data collection hell the thought of NOTHING TO do all day is just blissful! I'd have a raving rabbids marathon on the Wii - I'd then have a run maybe or just watch some c*ap tv, baking - always fun, something yummy, oooh I have some decorating to do, could get on with that - its just the thought of being able to do all the stuff that gets put off without guilt - no guilt... imagine that. Claudia - if you're bored I have some data I need analysing, you do that hon and I'll watch tv to save you ;-)

If you're really bored do you fancy writing my thesis for me? I can send you all the data and all the relevant papers I've got!

Otherwise cake baking is a good past time. Or lots of excersize (to allow you to eat more cake obviously!) I'm really looking forrward to finishing but reakon I'll be complaining of being bored soon afterwards!

DO NOT buy the hummingbirds bakery book. It will literally double your weight in weeks.

I see what you mean, I am in a similar position as you, have submitted several months ago and probably will have my viva in October or November.

Difficult to keep the interest in the thesis / preparation up to date. I do have a job that keeps me busy, yet would like a bit of intellectual stuff to do.

As preparation for the viva I am in the process of trying to get some of my thesis published. I am also trying to set a new project, although probably wiser not to do anything seriously until the viva is over.:-)
