I'd be interested in joining a group for a post-doc position, on their website I can read the following :" We have post-doc position available. Interested candidates can reach XXXX for more information."

What would your strategy be?
1) send then a first greeting email asking if you can send them your cv/cover letter
2) blast them with a cover letter/cv/references
3) other

Option 1 looks fine to me. Note that they are inviting you to ask for information, so it's a good opportunity to find out about anything important that isn't clear in the ad.
