is it worth doing a ph.d.

G

Spending nearly 4-5 years in lab, only to earn meagre amounts of money, also sacrificing one's family life..what to u think, is it really worth doing a ph.d.

In the UK most science PhD students spend 3-4 years in the lab.

...and you get paid more if you have a PhD and it's easier to get managerial positions (pharmaceutical industry) and when people are taking your name down and ask you, is that Mr/Miss/Ms/Mrs? you can say nope, its DR!!!

G

US universities take 4-5 years. later 2-4 yrs for post doc. then again search for the job/position. u will be 35 by then. when will u settle in life. will u

G

Are you saying it takes 3 years to search for a job once you have the PhD and postdocs?

G

not doing a Phd does not mean you have a life so u might as well do a Phd while you put it together.

G

u will never know the answer unless u do that. If u have an opportunity grab it..not many even get the chance..finally dont regret things in life..things happen for a reason, as you live your life doing various things you want as well as dont want!
