I am in the very beginning of my search. I would like to start a phd and I have many areas of interest. I guess I have to narrow it down, but how do you start exactly? Any info about uk or english speaking universities in europe where some of the staff is interested on japanese theatre tradition or contemporary performance methods linked also with the ritual of performance?

Don't know much about this area, but the logical thing to do would be (rather than browsing university things) look at journal articles in this field, check who wrote them and then find out(shouldn't be a problem using Google) where are the authors based.
