I was just wondering if there is any percieved difference in PhDs from different EU countries. I have heard that a UK PhD is not recognised in greece for instance, how does the UK PhD lie in an european context ?

I mean that the greeks, for some obscure reason,do not accept UK PhD degrees for university positions. The EU has been working hard to harmonise their PhDs, but I know nothing about if there is a subjective percieved difference between PhDs obtained in different EU countries.
