Hey guys,

I've got accepted to Msc Global Politics at LSE and Msc International Public Policy at UCL.

I really dont know where to accept! They're both great courses...

LSE has a better reputation (although UCL is fantastic too!) but costs 12£k where as UCL costs 6£K... so if i go to LSE i'll have to get a bank loan cos they didnt offer me a graduate merit award.

so basically, in weighing the pro's and cons i really really cant make a decision. Any advice whatsoever will be appreciated...

I'm lookin to get a job ultimately for the UN, World Bank, Foreign office, defence department... something like that... don't know whether that helps..

Well, the decision all comes down to you. Normally you would do a course that you love and would enjoy doing. LSE and UCL and both great Unis. If finances is your main concern, then UCL would be a better choice but if you do not mind getting a loan then LSE would be the one. Personally, i do not fancy a bank loan. And if both courses appealed to me, then i would go for the offer at UCL.

I dont know if this helps, but I completed a MSc in the psychology department of UCL.

The university is just fantastic. The sheer fact of studying a postgrad degree there, opened many doors for me, including an immediate offer of an advertised ESRC PhD studentship.

I would go for UCL-but LSE is pretty good too!

LSE if you can afford it - definately the place to do Politics

PS If you really want to work for an international organisation get some actual experience with an organisation as well - there are too many politics students after those sorts of jobs that the qualification alone is not enough

so... what kind of extra qualifications will i need?

Like I said, you need actual experience within an organisation (work experience, internship, paid work on a project)

Hi - I'm thinking of LSE & UCL for public policy too - I really should get on with applying. Do you mind me asking what qualifications etc you had when applying - cant decide whether its worth my while to apply or not

I'm just finishing my Bsc in Psychology predicted either a 1st or high 2;1. They dont often take cross-over students, but i've got work experience in the area and basically stated slot on my personal statement that it is def what i want ti do with my career. What are your qualifications? maybe i can help give you an idea of whether you've got a good chance?im sure you have though x

My degree is in politics - and i got a first so i should be ok on the academic side - but i dont have any work experience and thats what i'm a bit worried about

if you got a 1st in politics then you'll almost def get in... just write a passionate personal statement

Thanks - You've inspired me to get a move on and apply. Got to think up some good reasons why i want to do it now, and not just cos i want to avoid a real job!

Although UCL is a fantatsic university, I would go for LSE -its the best & will openmany doors for you. You'll make the money back when you graduate and get a job. Speculate to accumilate.
