I am currently considering a PhD do the hundredth time, having graduated with a high 2:1 and an MSc. I have worked in the life science industry for three years however at twenty six, the salaries ahead look a bit daunting. I was earning higher wages working in bars as a student and the financial situation is really starting to get me down. I am considering doing a PhD to enhance my career trajectory, however I am subside which next step would be the most lucrative.
Doing a PhD for financial reasons is a terrible idea.
You earn big money with specific industrial experience in something which companies require but can't easily source. You are already in industry. Why would you come out? Surely it would be easier to identify a better job and train yourself for it in your spare time?
What kind of income are you after anyway?
