I am currently enrolled as an MPhil student in Geography (Human geography)and I had planned to upgrade to a PhD. My problem is after an entire year as an MPhil student I have yet to feel comfortable with a topic to research and have not been able to build a relationship with my supervisor. I can't seem to zone in on an area I am interested in and get motivated. I am considering maybe leaving the MPhil/PhD and doing a taught masters instead and maybe pursue a PhD after, hoping that the taught masters will give me a platform to find myself. What's your opnion, stick with it or move on? Btw my MPhil is being funded but a taught masters would require me to fund myself.

Ah your not at Royal Holloway by any chance?
There's a great taught/research MA in cultural geography there, that normally has money to help towards fees for masters students.
