hello,I'm a Research Assistant at university in Asean country. The story was,I applied a PhD programme, with proposal, but research committee replied that my 3 yr BSc.(1st Hon),was not equivalent to the 4yr BSc.(Hon) at the university. For that reason,I'm working on a paper, which almost finish but not yet submitted, due to some problem in supporting data required.
I'm disappointed..because even the paper submitted,it takes more time for acceptance (which my current prof never have told me this) and some time for my PhD application to be approved. So long I need to wait,I wonder I'm doing right??
My main concern is that I finished my BSc. since May 2006 and I have been working on the publication since Mar 2007 and NOW YR 2008. It has been almost 2 yr gone, and I have not get into the PhD programme. I wonder when can I start PhD study??
Further,I'm working on the proposed project concurrently, but as I read more,I found different interest in the brain, and wishing to change the project topic. This made me more depressed..I'm thinking to find other lab for neuroscience study.I really wish to find one.
I can expect more challenges once I start PhD.I have been confusing..Welcome any feedback. Thanks
Hello tommy. From what i gather, i think you need to be a little bit patient. First of all you mentioned that the uni does not recognise your 3yr BSc because it not equivalent to their 4yr one. Does getting your papers published guarantee that they's take you on a PhD programme? I also think you need more communication with your supervisor of whoever is responsible for dealing with your application. You need to ask the relevant questions initially, so that you are not taken by surprise when there is a delay of circumstances change.
All the best!
I'm working as RA,also on publication. My current supervisor, say I should can join in PhD with one publication,RA experience(now working as) and maybe with his recommendation letter. It should be good enough to enter this Australia Uni with my 3yr BSc(1st class Hon)
Indeed,I'm not sure the specific requirement,i mean what level of publication, what journal impact factor, authorship and how many paper do i need,to qualify for H2A?I'm not sure and my supervisor is just saying OK..However,the paper I'm doing which lacking of the small data, which have not succeeded for a yr and still trying and..when will it be submitted? If submitted, still not sure if and when the paper get accepted.
Yup,quite confuse and everything uncertain?nobody can guarantee but I will sure have to work on it.The scholarship that my supervisor promised a yr ago, also may be not that optimistic anymore,i'm not sure.
