I notice that there are several "Notice of Retraction" notes for some IEEE papers. What is the implication of "Notice of Retraction" on the academic career? How to deal with this? Does it mean that the authors' academic career is doomed?

This feels like a hidden question.

If so, some more details on the nature of the retraction would be helpful.

The odd retracted paper won't make much difference, unless it's sufficiently high profile to gain widespread notoriety or it's to do with deliberately misrepresenting data.

My paper in a conference was retracted. When I search deeper, the whole proceedings (1 volume) of the conference was retrated. There are 2 pages of the list of authors who presented papers in that conference and their papers are also retracted. The conference was in 2010 and organized by xxxxx. When I search about xxxxx, it is written that the body organized fake bogus conference. How come it is a fake conference when we get reviewer comments, presented the paper and paid the registration fee?

Obviously it means you lose a paper, but if it was a conference paper from a weakly regarded conference, then perhaps not that big a loss in career terms. If you have a look through the comments on the retractionwatch site, you'll see there's a different attitude to people who've been scammed, than there is towards those who've had retractions for plagiarism or falsifying data, so try not to worry too much.

Huhu, what you are describing sounds very upsetting and really bizarre. However, it doesn't appear to be a fault of yours or any other conference participant and I would agree with TreeofLife's statement in that the 'odd retracted paper won't make much difference'. Not only that but all of the other contributors would be in the same situation-it would be very unlikely that all of you are going to lose all credibility because of this unfortunate event.

If it was a bogus event, is there any form of compensation (return of fees)? When you search XXXX and get the information about the bogus event, are there any links or other names, who you can contact for more information? Lastly, usually conferences have affiliations with Universities, professional or government bodies. Are you aware of any affiliated groups associated with this conference who might be able to assist with information or support in any way?

I thought the conference was reliable and that was why I submitted my paper there in the 1st place.

It's not the money/ compensation that I'm worried about Plju. The notice of retraction of the paper is on the internet and it is even listed in Research Gate. Everyone around the world can see my name with a retracted paper. I'm worried about my other papers too.

Yes. I went to the conference and presented the paper in 2010, TreeofLife. The retraction was not there until recently (2-3 months back). I emailed them to inquire the reason for the retraction but no reply, and my search in the internet shows those I wrote in my previous post.
