PhD applications / research proposals

G

Hi, currently an MSc student I am applying for PhDs in cognitive science/ai. Many applications state that a 'research proposal' should be submitted with the form. I am unsure how detailed/what format/how thorough this should be - does anyone know of any good examples of one of these please? I couldnt see anything on the web... any suggestions received gratefully.

You should have an idea of the sort of project you wish to undertake and then contact the research tutor in the dept of University that you are applying to. Usually they will spend some time with you if they are interested in you helping you finalise a suitable project. it may be that your initial idea of a project will be modified due to supervisor experience and or available equipment with the dept

Neale, how about going to www.yahoo.com and typing there "research proposal sample" or "... example". I did the search and there are plenty of proposals available. But remember all proposals are different because it all depends on the author, the topic, and the purpose of the proposal. As for structure, have a look over here http://www.sss.uq.edu.au/linkto/phdwriting/fr_phfaq.html or search in yahoo or google
