I'm thinking about doing a PhD in an Arts/Humanities subject (French, gender studies...) but am totally stymied when it comes to researching potential topics. My University does not have access to the relevant academic journals and I have not yet found any websites that could help. What would you advise?

We will shortly be publishing an FAQ section for students in the Arts & Humanities. To find academics working in your area of interest use one of the major search engines and restrict your search to the academic network (.ac.uk).

Your Uni should have agreements with other Uni's that are relatively close by to use their libraries. Also there are several databases of journal articles for arts and humanities some that allow you on line access if your school subscribes to it. www.isinet.com/isi/products/citation/ahci here's one. The Librarian at the school would also probably help you more than you want!! Good Luck!
