PhD at age 42

G

I want to start studying for a PhD. I am not doing it for money as I have a successful business. I just want to study. Is 42 too late?

G

of course not, if you have the relevent qualifications/experience, then there is no reason why you cannot study for a PhD.

G

Hey Ro,

what does 'too late' mean?! You're not gonna pass away next year, then it's NOT too late!! Damn it! :o)
Best of luck - let us know.

(Didn't mean to be offensive in any ways, but just wanted to make a point)

G

I'm about to start a PhD program and I'll be 40 this year. So, 42 is not too late!

G

could you point me in the direction of a uni that accepts people of 40 above age
and who can help them achieve a PhD in a shorter time frame and part time

You can't acheive a PhD in less than 3 years - particularly not a part time one, sorry.

G

hi, it's never too late in life to achieve your dreams. go for it, don't let a soul discourage you, as long as you meet the academic requirements, you are as good as anyone else. probably better, coz you can draw on your experience. listen to your heart, not to the world, ey. you'll never regret it. take heart.

G

hey I think you should go for it - I know LOTS of older people doing PhD's - better than being stuck in a dead end job or spending the rest of your life wondering what may have been. Go for it - you won't be the only older one there.

G

i think u should go for it even though it is late
