PhD Interview - Telephonic or in person??

G

I appied for a PhD studentship at Strathclyde, and now I have been told to come up for an interview. I reside in Pakistan, should I ask them a telephonic interview?, But I also feel that physical presence definately has an edge, so should I travel? I mean I can but am kinda lost for now. The project itself is so very wanted by me, I can travel if its worth it...any suggestions/experiences please?

G

An interview is always better in person but in general academics understand that this is not always possible. Provided you convey your interest in their area of research a telephone interview should be a problem if you ask.

Hmm, should be a problem?...I think i better take the chance then!, shouls i ask them if how many candidates are there? would it look ok if ask that..

G

Goldfish, I think that was a typing mistake on M's part... a "telephone interview should *NOT* be a problem if you ask". I know Edinburgh and Cambridge do them, so I'm sure Strathclyde should be okay! Prepare well and all the best!
