I am a german citizinship and graduated in Germany/ Munich with the major genetics and the minors molecular zoology, biochemistry, human genetics. Now, I am looking forward for ph.D. studentship in the u.k. in the field of development (zebrafish or mouse), telomeres, cell biology in common. If you know any possibilty and stuff concerning funding I would be pleased to hear from you.

As an EU citizen your chances of funding in the UK are reasonable. Some departments offer special scholarships for EU students. Many UK research council grants are available on a 'Fees only' basis to EU students (meaning you will need to be able to support yourself financialy). Look for projects marked with an EU flag or World symbol, these departments welcome enquiries from EU students. You may want to look at the BBSRC and MRC web sites (see links page) for information on their policies for funding EU citizens.

Does it then mean that non EU citizens have no reasonable chances of funding?

Most government funded scientific PhD studentships in the UK is available to EU or UK nationals only. Non-UK citizens who qualify as 'ordinarily resident' may also receive a government funded research council grant - visit the research councils web sites (see links page) to check current eligability criteria. Well qualified candidates from outside these areas will be considered for most non-government funded positions, such as those funded by the university themselves or by research charities.

The British Council in your home nation may be able to help you find alternative sources of funding for study in Britain. On this site look for projects which are marked as being available to students worldwide. If you have your own funding then most academics will consider your application.
