PhD Student Unemployed with Criminal Record

M

Hey New Family,

I am a PhD Candidate in the Baltimore, MD area and I have several misdemeanors on my record .........However, I have landed at Coppin State University. However, this sitution did not work out due to sexual orientations between me and my supervisor. However, I am afraid that I will never be employed again in Higher Education Administration. Any advice other than get you record expunged? Again, I have no felonies but these misdemeanors are going to harm my future. I beleive the only reason I got that job is because I new someone.

Thanks New family

Hi there, I'm a little confused - are you doing a PhD currently?

What does the law say in your state about how long after a crime is committed, the conviction is spent?

If you've a few misdemeanors because you did a few stupid things when you were young or perhaps you got into a fight when you were drunk, these convictions may be 'spent' if really minor and you may no longer have to mention them.

A conviction is considered spent a certain time period after your conviction in UK law, this dependent upon the offence.
