how do you submit papers for publication in journals? a lot of publishers do not put down information on how to submit. i called them today and they said an editor would contact me today. but no one called. is this normal?

Most journals have a webpage with information on how to submit - I'd be pretty wary of any that didn't - that seems odd.

Also, most journals have information on the inside of front cover on or on the back cover on submission requirements, if you have a hard copy of the journal.

Did you actually look at the homepage for the journal itself, or just the publisher's general webpage? Try finding the actual page for that is specific to the journal, if you did not already do that.

the journal in which I wanted to publish had a part on the website regarding submission. The process is very descriptive and one needs to follow it explicitely. Once you have submitted, you can see on the website the progress of your article: on line you get feedback remarks from the reviewers, you then need to correct, resubmit etc. At the end the editor will (again on line) say something like: Will be publised.... Obviously you can contact the editors directly, by phone, yet often these are busy people, and my experience is that they do not always return your calls.

the whole webpage doesn't have this information. i called them and they directed me to an email whose owner is on leave til the summer. i feel like ... them!!
