I am doing a PhD in engineering and for the first 21/2 years, I did very well. However, the past 1-1/2 years have been bad. I have been learning a lot but I am not making any progress. Now, I am feeling angry at myself for not having focus and direction. I don't know if I should quit or keep going. I need to find some new found motivation, but I do not know where to get it. Have you any suggestions for me. I am really depressed right now.

Maybe you can explain more about why you feel you aren't making any progress? Are you nearing the end of your PhD? What goals to you still have to reach? How is your relationship with your supervisor?

You've come so far. It would be a shame to quit now.
