Some confusion about 2.1, 2.2 etc

A

Hi all, I am a bit confused about how one can know and calculate one's postgraduate degree in terms of 2.1 or 2.2. I have recently done my MA and got an aggregate of 57%. So how will I express this in terms of ratio?

at my uni it was

50-60 = pass
60-70 = merit
70+ = distinction

so I guess it would be a high pass (2:2?)

Postgraduate degrees do not use the First, 2.1, 2.2, third classification.

My marking scheme for Masters level is similar to Sneaks':
Pass 50 to 65%
Merit 65 to 70%
Distinction over 70%

So you have a pass...and not a 2.1 or 2.2.

However, if your degree is from outside the UK, a 57% will not necessarily equate to 57% in the UK. You will need to have you qualifications officially converted.

It really depends on your own university's way of doing things. For my MSc (Uni of Strathclyde), there was no pass, merit and distinction classification, it was simply a pass or fail (i.e. pass is anything higher than 50%)

at my uni:-
50 - 59 = pass
60 - 69 = merit
70 and above = distinction
