Hello all!
I have just finished my masters and I am deciding what to do next. I am being (unexpectedly) pulled in the PhD direction at the moment. I have 2 little ones (2 and 5) and so cannot study full time PhD.
Can you tell me if is it harder to get funding for a part time PhD? And will I be taken seriously?
Thanks
It's harder to do a PhD when you have young children full stop - and I should know!!
I don't know about PT though, most people I know who are doing it this way, are self-funding. Good luck anyway.
The ESRC does part time funding (social science) and it shouldn't matter if you apply for p/t or f/t. Doing a phd is hard - it is especially hard with children BUT it is also very rewarding - go for it!
