I'm yet to do a PhD, but I feel like I need to get this skill right -- what tips can you give on how to write publications? How did you start and perfect your writing skills? Was there a specific realisation or idea what made you improve? Did you read specific books on scientific writing?

The topic is within cellular/molecular biology, related to cancer/immunology, but anything goes really.

Does anyone have any advice for Akutagawa? I imagine that your skills would develop as you work on your thesis...

I've yet to read it (sadly, not a priority at the moment) but the blurb says it's for all disciplines. Don't have a recommendation for something specific on scientific writing, unfortunately.
