I was wondering if anyone had been through the upgrade process (MPhil->PhD). I am about to do mine (we have to do them after one year's worth of research) and wondered if you had any advice for questions that may be asked?
The transfer procedure usually takes the form of a viva, therefore the questions will be specific to your research. However, be prepared to talk about how you will develop your existing work to fulfil the criteria for a PhD. Good luck!
Actually, the transfer process varies from one institute to another. But the most common element is to say how you developed your research to this stage (assigning reasons for all changes) and how you will carry it to a succesful end.
The thought of doing one is scaring me already and I've only just started! It's probably seeing all the current 1st years after they have had theirs which seem quite tough! It's good practice for the viva at the end I suppose!
Relax! I'm coming up to the end of my 2nd year and still haven't had mine! Mainly because of ill health that I have got behind with my work, but I should have the required results in the next couple of weeks to go through the upgrade process.
