I'm planning on getting an MLitt in Victorian Literature from Glasgow, and I'll be returning to the US afterwards. I'm wondering about what the value of an MLitt in America actually is. Is it regarded as a full Master's degree? Is it in between a Bachelor's and a Master's? My goal is to use my MLitt to teach at a community college in the US, since many instructors at community colleges only have a Master's. Will my MLitt be worth the same?

In the UK the MLitt is acquired after the MA as far as I know. It is a postgraduate degree, but as you probably know there are differences even between the Scottish system and the English. What I would suggest is to enquire the UK agency for international academic and professional qualifications, NARIC. I think that they should be able to tell you what the US correspondent is, and what use you can make of it in your country.
