Emailing potential PhD supervisor

E

I'm planning to apply for a PhD project, and contacted the supervisor a couple of weeks ago to let them know I'm interested, and they replied to basically acknowledge that.
Since then I've come up with some questions about the project - is it ok for me to now email them to ask? or is it weird as it is a while after the first emails?

(Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I'm still new to the whole applying for PhDs thing..)

Of course it is fine to email them. How else will you ask the questions? You could acknowledge that it has been a while since your initial email if that seems polite. Good luck!

Hi Emery, do they keep hours available for student, and research student face to face advice? If so, email to ask whether you could make a time to catch up briefly and address questions in person might be a good way to proceed. A 20 minute conversation would be the equivalent of of several thousand words in an email. Sometimes making that personal connection helps if you are looking to establish an ongoing relationship. Good luck with your application.

Sorry about your name misspelling by the way, I've tried to correct this-but for some reason not working!

Thanks. The face to face advice wouldn't work as the university is quite a way away from where I am currently. I did email though and that was fine. Don't know what I was worried about really!

Great! Good luck with your application! (Are you applying for it?) : )

E

Thanks! Yep, I have applied for it :)
