You need to take fast action on this problem. This is quite serious, remember that if your supervision is bad then you will have a lot of difficulties later and maybe in the viva. Just think about yourself and find a better supervisor, the department will change it easily, I don´t see why you are still waiting.
We At the beginning of a PhD, you cannot work so well because you haven´t read enough, you haven´t discussed enought, you haven´t received input from your supervisor and other collegues, so IT IS NORMAL!!!
I remember the last year of my PhD I was just writing like crazy all my ideas and intepretation of my results. I was so happy because everything was flowing so easily. But it is natural, as I had the knowledge and the methodology at that moment. Be patient.
Well I am supposed to be one of the persons who give PhDs a bad name, lol.
During my PhD programme I spent a lot of time, from 10am to 8pm. Most of my weekends were also dedicated to read and do calculations. Whenever I took some time off I felt guilty and never ever had a single day without feeling that I should be working on my thesis. Yes, it is horrible. I was so stressed and I felt my life depended on it. Independently of the subject and supervisor, I think doing a PhD is a serious commitment.
