hmmm interesting - retinas are now scarred after finding out what it was... Google you are wrong! :$
Thanks guys it's really helpful. Our uni is a HEI with FE provisions and is not overly larger. We have about 380 resident students and about 1200 (ish) HE's with only about 20 PGR students. We have a lovely shared office capable of fitting at least 16, but only 4/5 of us use it regularly - then it is closed at 7pm - just as I get into my "groove".... There is not access to anything after hours but I am trying to get that changed at present - need all the luck I can get!
Hi fellow PG Researchers!
Can you tell me if your University allows you 24 hour access to the following please?
* Own office with computer
* PG Common room with own computer space
* PG Common room with shared computer space
* Library with computer facilities
I am trying to persuade my Uni to provide this for our PGR research students. We currently have our office and own space open until 7pm (M-F) and 5pm (W/E) and a PG CR open until 9:30 Mon-Fri and 7:30 at weekends with a shared space. Library is open until 8:30 M-F and 6 at the w/e... But as most of you know you can't turn your brain off for a while whilst you pack up files/laptop/equipment and move to another desk. I need evidence of other UK HEI's which grant PG students 24 hour access. If yours does, can you please reply stating which institute and security measures - key pad or swipecard?
Many thanks, it's much appreciated

I knew it would make people smile!! :-)
Alas, I shall not have big biceps... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGhKlXtfvlc) it's more of a work out for the stalion :$ but the result is what I'm interested in. We have some really amazing equipment to use to look at the sperm cells see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnhL73oBNvg
Oh I could talk to you all day about it but I won't bore you. Have a look at the second video though - it's intesting - honest ;-)
Cornflower I am in a similar place to you. I have a meeting with my supervisor this week and have hardly anything written down, I'm totally overwhelmed. The other PhD students I know have all taken to this like a duck to water, perhaps its because they all have a masters whereas I've come straight from completing my undergrad studies.... We will get there in the end but we just have to keep writing. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way and I think you need to get things written. 10,000 words can be done. I did it in 5 days for my undergrad dissertation and came out (shockingly) with a 1st for it somehow. I started with my contents page and a plan so I kew exactly what I needed to write.
Good luck x
Bendy:-)
My PhD will be on the improvement of stallion spermatozoa using dietary trace elements - I'm so excited 8-) - I love sperm - well horsey sperms, OK will now be quiet :$ what a lovely first impression to give!
I'm not sure if it's that strange/unusual as I've gone through the whole animal/equine undergrad thing and it's pretty normal here to look at animal reproduction.
