ADMIS at LSE - MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems
C

I went for Systems design and Innovation and Technology Management. My main was sys design. You can from more courses, but I'd choose one of these 2 as my main focus for the second term, that is if you want something that you can actually put on your CV.

yes, very happy that I did. As for dissertation, its cool. Not undergrad easy, but still fairly manageable.

looking for a second masters at LSE

as a current LSE postgrad, if ur grades and degrees are what u say they are, I wouldnt worry about getting in too much.

cheers.

LSE, Warwick, King's College, Birkbeck: what is the best?
C

LSE hands down. If ur an LSE grad, especially in finance/economics, then ur looking at major money jobs in the city (IB/Consulting). Not to mention, that, like it or not, switching from LSE to kings/birckbeck for Phd is easier than the other way round. LSE is not the best economics university for nothing. If ur thinking Phd, and funding is an issue, then LSE will get you into US Phd programs with scholarship. Kings/bircbeck are fairly unknown in US.

Regarding the course options, would you recommend any courses for the business-y people?

First term, everyone takes the same courses. You'll know what to choose by urself in the second term anyway.

What was the most difficult task you had to face throughout the year?

Too many heavy parties! Keeping up to speed on readings is probably your biggest challenge because after all, ur living in London, and LSE especially is intense in every sense of the word.

How many hours of work for Admis did you do a week?

In the first term, course work is 1.5 hours/day (it varies, u might have days off or 4 hour days) but it averages this much. You will be ok if you do 3 addition hours of reading per week day, or around 12-15 hours/week.

Would you recommend any prepatory readings before the course starts?
There should be a list on the department website. Maybe Laudon & Laudon for basics, but don't expect to use any of its ideas in the course, because its for beginners - not for an MSc. Helped me because I was a techie.

Most have CS/Engineering degrees, but not all of us. Its an interesting course, because you can do your own thing in a sense: if your a techie, then you can do some serious technical stuff (design, programming, etc..) and if your a business person, you can get into risk, security etc. Lots of fun. Do the readings, and you'll find it easy to pass. But getting good grades is NOT easy. The profs are not easily impressed.

Overall, do ADMIS, and you'll get alot of interviews by the City!

hello,
funny i was on google and found this forum. I am currently finishing up the year in ADMIS, and working on my thesis. What I can tell you about the program, is that its pretty intense, and the professors are no joke the best in the field. As LSE is mostly a social sciences university, the emphasis within the ISIG department is on the social implication of technology on the work place.Technology and R&D is important, but success comes from the people who apply it.
The department is full of scientists with some econ/socio people, both from the teachers and students.
