I'm trying to write up as I go along (well, my supervisors are forcing me to!) which I find quite an ordeal as someone who spent undergrad / masters doing everything at the last minute. But I guess doing it incrementally is a big part of teaching you to efficiently manage a relatively long-term research project (and a good way at getting you into the habit of redrafting cringeworthy text) so I think I'll eventually appreciate having done it this way..!
Hey...
Lara, the egg timer's fun, I've just started using it, thanks!
Today's been quite slow going, still working on sketchy versions of yesterday's objectives, so...
1. Improve and finish yesterday's drafting tasks (1 hour)
2. Turn House of Lords notes into a draft text (1,5 hours)
3. Do an outline on how to fill the big hole in chapter 4(!) (30 mins)
How come things take way longer than I expect when I write rational lists?!
Good luck with what you're doing today & if you've had time out, hope it's fun
Hey!
Thank you for the welcome! I'm sorry for not checking in last night, I've a very temperamental internet connection (3 mobile, beware) which makes it tricky when internet traffic is high.
Lara and tractorgirl - I totally agree re: trying to work on 2 chapters at once.. I'm having to do this right now & sometimes feel paralysed because there's so much material to handle, and days turn out to be very unproductive. But I'm determined (read 'desperate'!) to change my ways quickly... I agree re: putting the mini-breaks into practice, it's a balmy night so I'll try it tonight.
Yesterday's objectives - only managed the first two. Must be more realistic!
Tonight's objectives -
1. Incorporate updated legislative info found yesterday into chapter 3 (approx. 1 hour)
2. First draft of England section of chapter 4 (approx. 2 hours)
Hate working on two chapters simultaneously, but massively stuck for time! Good luck and hope your days are going well :)
Hi Everyone!
I'm new here and think this is a fantastic idea...very impressed at your motivation! So guilty of procrastinating, have two draft chapters due Wed, and am *so* behind. Even booking a holiday starting on Wed to force me to submit hasn't worked! Mind if i join and leap in with some aims for today? Seeing as I've faffed until nearly 1pm already
1. Chapter 3 - revise intro
2. Chapter 3 - check for legislative updates for section three and turn notes into decent text
3. Chapter 4 - Freewrite section on England
4. Chapter 4 - Freewrite section on Sweden
5. Brainstorm ways of tackling doctrinal element of chapter 4
Good luck with your aims today & hope to check in to share some good news later...
