Yep ... thanks for the reply... I am still confused though... what I mean to say composites and failure mechanism is still an advanced topic.. in case I have to cover basics of structures and then move on to composite structural analysis what are the basic subs in structures I should brush up?

I have completed my master's aeronautical engineering. My theisis was on ndt of composite structures using ultrasonic air coupled c scans. I completed my masters 2 years back. Now i want to pursue my Phd. I want to do in the area of composites itself and related to aircraft structures. Can someone help me to know what basic subjects should i study to go before an interview and with what subjects i can build my basics. I have decide in the area of repair of composites and especially self healing composites. Someone help me as to what basic concepts i need to study right from undergrad
