Thank you for responding Sue2604! I was wondering what the tomato technique was and in my anxiety attack I forgot to ask. Thanks! I will take a look at your suggestions. Its just I feel way behind and cant figure out how come. Yes its true I do get distracted even though I am sitting here with all material at hand, thinking about ways to get this thing finished, worrying about why it is I cant remember anything, questioning is my pace norma to how can I make all the time spent really work for me.
Fear of sounding selfish and going on about 'me' let me go and take a look at the resources you recommended.
Hi
Anyone out there! My funding finishes in 6months and I would like to submit on the 7th month. I only have 3 drafts of 8, spend amazing hours in front of this machine some days producing only 500 words on a V good day 1500. I am at this most days at least 5 the days I miss I put in double hrs but for the life of me it feels like there is no progress. Any tips, suggestions something.
Good on you for completing! Just thought I would also mention I submitted the same application twice after being refused the first time. A small amount of tweaking the second time around did the job. Point is if for some reason you don't get through first time around make sure not to give up and send it again.
Good Luck
:-( My deadline for completing an empirical chapter has been blown again by arguments with my partner.
I am always amazed at how the clock ticks steadily on and an hrs break to sort things out turns into days of tense energy causing all kinds of blockages.
Today i will complete!!!
Looks very familiar and you managed to pull up on your MA unlike myself who struggled with both. For what its worth I honestly do not think you need to worry about your grades. Its your project proposal that becomes the deciding factor. I am ESRC funded (final year) now worrying that my struggle through undergrad and MA study is now reflecting in my inability to retain information, organise thoughts, stay focused and stick to deadlines.
My sup is also well respected and gave a lot of support with my application. I also did my undergrad at a non UK university and just about passed my MA by the skin of my teeth.
Fret Not you need a good project and a clear proposal.
All the best
For the past however many years, undergrad and masters I have never had to use foot or endnotes. Now in the final year of PhD i am of the impression I have no way of getting out of using them if my research is to look, read and feel like an academic piece of work. I am already struggling to get my thoughts into chapters and the foot/end notes seem to throw off my trail of thoughts. I am wondering if I should add them all in during my editing period?!?
Does anyone have any advise as to best practice with flipping end/foot notes?:$
