Congratulations Dr. LarryDavid :-)
Congratulations Dr. Pamw :-)
Hi everyone,
I have PASSED with very MINOR corrections which are just typographical and clarification of couple of sentences. I had my viva on the 3rd of Dec. I can't believe that I have made it :) I should definitely mention that my viva was very enjoyable and it lasted for 3 hours it total. The examiners were very positive about the thesis and they appreciated me quite a few times during the viva. The viva was not in the form I expected it to be. I will write in detail about it soon.
I am still waiting for the list of corrections to be sent by my examiners so that I can finish, submit the hard bound copy before I fly back home :) I have also got a job in one of the world's prestigious universities (in UK) which I will be starting in March :) I couldn't have asked for more!!!
Few months back, I had never thought I would make it but hey, here I am :) I would like to thank all the people on the forum for sharing their stories!!!

Hello every one,
I was at a very low point yesterday, lost perspective and freaked out thinking about the amount of work I still have to get done. I am feeling better now, so have started with:
Goal 1 - Troubleshoot simulations.
Goal 2 - Edit chapter 5.
Have a nice day! (up)
Hi Dr. Heidi,
Congratulations!!! I am very pleased for you and Bea :-) (gift)
Labpixie - I hope your experiments went on well :-) My goals are really bite size chunks. It is really a very good feeling to tick things off your list.
I completed 2 of my goals before lunch and after that worked on my simulations and fixed another calculation. I am still at work trying to get one or two more things done, have printed some papers to read tonight. Have a nice evening everyone.
I have completed all of my previously listed goals.
Goal 6 - Read documentation on measurement and analysis.
Goal 7 - Email colleague to fix an appointment to do measurements.
How is every one doing today?
Morning everyone!
Labpixie - Well done on fixing all of your corrections (up) and good luck with the rest :-)
I managed to achieve all of my goals yesterday. The supervisory meeting went on well except that my primary supervisor will be away for the next 2 weeks so he won't be able to give comments on my chapters. My secondary supervisor came into work after a long break so he is probably going to be busy for a while as well. A post-doc colleague of mine has offered to correct my thesis which is great. I will be sending the chapters to 3 of my colleagues/collaborators. There is so much to do and so little time. I don't think I will be able to submit in the first week of Aug :-( Anyway I will keep plodding on and see what happens. I have to work on 2 journal articles as well and submit it by the end of September.
Goal 1 - Check simulations.
Goal 2 - Combine results.
Goal 3 - Launch new simulations.
Goal 4 - Email collaborator.
Goal 5 - Give a printed copy of thesis to post-doc.
Have a nice day everyone!
Hi Batfink (and every one else around),
Morning! Thanks. It is nice that you are taking a break, you deserve one for all the hard work!!
Welcome Labpixie, I hope you find posting on this thread useful. Good luck (up)
I haven't been working much lately, I don't know why. I can't motivate myself to do anything :-( I hope this shall pass! Anyway for today:
Goal 1 - Trouble shoot simulations.
Goal 2 - Email collaborator.
Goal 3 - Make notes for meeting.
Goal 4 - Meet supervisor.
Have a nice day!
I completed all my goals except for the fact that I found that something is wrong with the results which I got. I have no idea why :-( I need to investigate this but can't be bothered to do anything now. I am going home now, got to skype my fiancé (it has been ages since we skyped). I will come back with a fresh mind tomorrow morning and troubleshoot. Have a nice week end everyone!
Hi everyone!
I am back from holidays, had a wonderful time with my friends close to nature. It was refreshing and rejuvenating and very much needed!! Hope everyone is doing ok, and good to see that all are progressing on writing thesis, papers and conference presentations. Well done all (up) I am going to take it easy today as I am still achy and tired from hiking, so the goals for today are:
Goal 1 - Check simulations - DONE.
Goal 2 - Combine simulations.
Goal 3 - Launch new simulations.
I will finish these and see if I can do more. Have a good day!
Hi all, I have achieved all of my goals. I thought of doing more, but honestly looking outside the window I don't feel like doing any more work :p Also there is construction work going on in the building, so too much of drilling which is making me crazy (oh well, excuses :p) I am going to call it a day and go home in a bit to skype my fiance, talk to my family, pack bags for holidays (ohooooooo.....:-)) and will laze around a bit. Have a nice week end everyone! "See" you on Friday next week.
Lindalou, Button - Enjoy your holidays girls!!!
Batfink - I hope you have a nice time and good luck with you journal article. And have a nice week end at Bath :-) and I hope you will be able to take some time off work soon :-) Hugs!
Hi everyone, Morning!
Is this British summer or Indian monsoon out there??? Ufffff.....Oh well..can't do much, can we?
Lindalou - I am feeling much better, thanks for asking. Well done on completing the left over sections of your chapter 8-)
Batfink - Good luck with your journal paper draft. It sounds like you have got a detailed plan which will definitely make it easier. Good luck (up)
I had a productive day yesterday, finished all my goals except half of the last one which I will continue today. Goals for today:
Goal 1 - Check simulations - DONE.
Goal 2 - Combine simulations.
Goal 3 - Note down the rest of the values of variables.
I hopefully manage to finish these off before lunch and will plan for more. I need a cup of COFFEE to begin with!! Have a good day girls!
Hi everyone!
Button - Have a wonderful holiday! I hope you are going to somewhere nice and warm :-)
Batfink - Welcome back! That's fantastic. I am chuffed that your presentation went down well.
Lindalou - Wow, you are almost there! Keep it up and here is something for you (gift)
It looks like everyone is going on holidays at the same time. I will be away from Sunday for 4 days, going to Scotland with my friends. I am really looking forward to this trip as I will be moving back to my home country after I submit my thesis. This is a great opportunity to spend time with my friends before I go back :-)
Ok, back to business. I was unwell the last couple of days, so didn't get to do anything. My goals for today are:
Goal 1 - Check simulations - DONE.
Goal 2 - Generate input files for the rest of the simulations - DONE.
Goal 3 - Submit simulation 4.
Goal 4 - Note down values of variables from my analysis.
Have a nice day!
