Ehm, just curious, since I'm submitting a copy of mine to my prof tomorrow (the paper's due in a few weeks). I've never had a professor require a rough draft to view before, and mine is still 1,000 words short, footnotes aren't finished, and I haven't inserted photos or expanded certain sections. Am I going to get slammed? Are you expected to have a near-complete copy submitted? Sorry, I'm kind of anxious here. Oh and happy new year. Stupid paper.

If your sup is expecting a 'rough draft' then he/she shouldn't have a problem with receiving it in a 'rough' state. But, if he/she is expecting a 'draft' or 'first draft' most will expect a good standard of presentation with most references etc. completed.
