Anyone else can't concentrate on anything because of the impending xmas hols? I didn't even plan to stop work over xmas, but now I'm thinking I SHOULD be watching old xmas films all day and wrapping stuff. (gift)
Any tips on actually doing some PhD work?

Hi Sneaks, no tips on PhD work, I'm afraid, but I can share m current experience. I'm meant to be dividing my days (when I'm not teaching) between marking the 140 essays which are piled up in my living room and PhD work, but all I can focus on is the marking, it's like I can't do both at once.
I don't have any deckies up yet, that'll come next weekend, so I'm still feeling like it's miles away. Have a bit of cabbage (or is it a giant sprout?) to sober you up. (sprout)
Hi Sneaks
I'm forcing myself to work, but it's a struggle. Am doing a bit more socialising, which is really nice, but it just makes me want to take some time off completely. I so need a holiday, but am only going to take a week off, then back into it. So I can relate. I'm working at the moment as I need to get lots done before Xmas, and just doing this thru sheer determination. No decorations in my house - that'd be too festive and then I definitely wouldn't work! So the decorations here will have to suffice...(tree)
Yep, it's hard to focus with all the lovely things one could be doing! BUT, I will keep going to uni until the 24th, because I want to take time off completely during xmas/new year. My aim is to work hard now (until xmas) and then play hard (during xmas/new year). I think it is important to take time out and for me xmas will be such a time - hence, now is work time, huhu! All the best, (robin)
I'm scared to take too much time off in case I lose my motivation, which generally happens when I have a break. But I know that I need the time to relax, so will hopefully work up until Christmas eve, and then enjoy the festivities! I would love a holiday - haven't been away since September last year :( Hope everyone's pre-Christmas work is going well.
Well well well, Bug is working like a maniac with a bad head cold till 20th and then..then...then...
she is going for a holiday!!!! for 12 days to visit her family (family has planned, yes, believe me, a cake like a book for my b'day that's right atthe end of the yr, plus two parties same day on the day)
19 months of no breaks and now I have a break!!!
