Hi, Please help me with my issue here.

I am filling an application form for a graduate programme at the moment. There is a section called "Cover Letter (insert below)". Now I am confused about the format of the covering letter I have to type in here. A standard covering letter contains recipient's address, my address, subject line. Do I need to follow the same format? If not please suggest me a format
