I'm taking my dad to London this weekend: can anyone recommend some nice pubs (real ale/historic type places)? Thanks :-)

My dad would recommend the George Inn off Borough High Street, near London Bridge (see http://www.pubs.com/pub_details.cfm?ID=187). It's old and serves Abbot Ale, if I recall correctly.

There was tavern on this site since the 16th century, for anybody apart from me that might be interested, the Tiger Tavern had a collection of living birds in the 18th century that people could look at whilst drinking...
