As I perused my Phd Comics annual in bed last night (yes, really) I began to wonder..... what did everyone else get for Christmas this year?
Who got the best/worst/geekiest present on the forum?
Or if you really did just get socks, what do you wish you'd been given? Air your grievances and boast of your gains (while I procrastinate fully and wish santa had seen fit to put a thesis in my stocking).
(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(robin)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(tree)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(snowman)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)(gift)
I got a pack of Bic biros: 1 green, 1 red, 2 black and 2 blue. I've already used up half the ink in one of the black ones though.
My favourite present was this uber fantastic egg-shaped japanese cat which meows when you pet it, and says stuff in japanese, and when you play with it too much, it gets really angry. I love it. It's not practical, or useful, or anything really, but I love it. It has me in stitches!!
My most practical present was either money (which I spent on clothes), or a pastasaurus (dinosaur shaped pasta spoon), or the random dino-shaped sandwich moulds.
Strangest was a pair of leg-warmers from my mom... random.
I didn't get anything typically geeky, but my partner themed my presents so they all had some connection with dinosaurs or Super Mario. If that's not a sign of my utter geekiness, I don't know what is.:$
Jinkim I want one! That sounds so cool.
I had a similar present once from a friend in Hong Kong; it was a soft toy of hello kitty that waved its head and sang to you when your mobile got a call. Amazing but it used to go off in the night and scare the crap out of me!
Hey Jinkim- I also got one of those cats, but for some reason the "meouw" sound does not work, but anyway it does the japanese bells and sounds:-) It's absolute ace!
I suppose the most geeky present I got this year is an "Asterix and Obelix" comics in LATIN! I did Latin at school, but otherwise...(??) I am struggling to understand most of it, but I am actually surprised that I remember some Latin (or so I think:p), and some of it makes sense.. Well, actually, I already know the plot... Bless my mum, I guess she always likes to give me a challenge.. or is it her language-teacher-nature coming through??
I got three pairs of glamrous leopard print socks in pink, blue and biege/brown, all with gold embellishment and a leopard print purse to match I also got a whizzo stereo which I haven't fathomed out properly yet. :)
I'm jealous: I want a puppy!
I got a Nerf gun. It's all about the Nerf! I really wanted a clipboard so that I can read and highlight papers in bed. I asked for it especially but it got forgotten! :(
Last year I got A Brief History of Time. Was awsome read actually. Im a massive gaming geek but didn't get the new call of duty modern warfare 2 either. What a let down.
My dad gave me a Sony e-reader. This was totally unexpected, but I am delighted.
In true geek fashion, I thought to myself - yay! Now I can carry all my pdfs around with me* without them getting crumpled i my bag.
Also looking forward to downloading some classics from Project Gutenberg.
*Note to self - carrying pdfs around not same as reading said pdfs...
