mifepristone urgent question

S

hi everyone
I have a friend who had this treatment 2 weeks ago, we thought it is a good idea to ask it here since we are mostly anonymous. I am just concerned:

1 how long will the bleeding last, she is still having clots
2 when will the abdominal pain go away
3 there is no fever but she seems sickly all the time, I am wondering if it is caused by the mifepristone
4 will she need counselling

thanks very much

I think you should phone NHS direct with some of these issues on 0845 46 47, they should be able to to tell you whether the symptoms are expected or not.

In any case I would also go to the GP with her, no matter what they say on the phone just to be sure.

She will need counselling, I'm surprised they let her have the treatment without counselling to be honest.

hi sneaks Im so glad you replied!
I dont want to push her; and she doesn't seem like wanting to go out or do anything else
she also doesn't want to say anything except ok we can ask the forum
I also haven't seen the clots; I was told that the nurse checks the bed-pan (during the treatment)
I found a bpas website and read off some information there;but I thought it would make a difference if someone had been through it and could explain it to us
I'll tell her to call the nurse if she still feels unwell; to be very frank I dont know if there is anything else I can do; only do the housework so she does not have to lift anything and make her hot drinks (if I make tea, I make one for her).

thanks again

I've not had the treatment myself Satchi, but I understand it can potentially be extremely traumatic, particularly emotionally. I can't believe she was given this without counselling! They should have also explained to her what was expected to happen in terms of bleeding etc.

I think she'll need a lot of support and a visit to the doctors to demand the appropriate aftercare.
