I was wandering if anyone has an experience in removing one of the committee members from the graduate advisory committee? I am a PhD student on my final year and I am having difficulty with one of my committee members. I know my supervisor will not be supportive of this decision at all. But I think it should be my decision since I am the one who hurts. Please let me know if you have done the same thing. Any advices?

Your first port of call should be to discuss it with your supervisor - he / she would be the one who would then have to organise a new member, so you can't just avoid it.

Thanks for the respond. I am thinking of keeping the person in the committee and just dealing with it. It seems the best choice although annoying for me.
