Hi Guys
I am very tense. I applied for Tier 4 (General) visa on 22 Jan 2015 from Bangalore as I heard there is a visa priority service with payment of Rs.10,500 and would get decision within 5days. But still there is no news from Visa office yet.
Got an email from Visa office that my application is not straightforward and would take more time. I need to reach UK by 9Feb. More tense. Too much stressed. Is anyone aware of the processing time of Chennai UK visa office. Please help guys. Much needed.
Thanks
According to Home Office website, for PBS Tier 4: They (supposedly) process 97% within ten days. Good luck.
Yes, unfortunately it doesn't mention paying a premium rate for faster service, just that 'a range of factors' are involved! Curiously vague.
yes, but recently in Aug 2014 they opened a Tier 4 Priority Service in Bangalore wherein they decide applications within 5 working days. I opted for that traveled from Mumbai to Bangalore and paid rs.10,500 extra for the said service but seems its only on papers. Instead, I should have filed from Mumbai itself. Keeping fingers crossed.
Why do you need to get to the Uk by the 9th of Feb? If it's to start a PhD, most of the time this is flexible as universities know that international students struggle with visas.
hi Gemini
Sorry to hear about your visa wait. It can be very annoying. Please be patient.
My suggestion to you nearer to 9th February is to email your university and tell them that you are still waiting for your visa. They will help you work something out about your enrolment date.
I also started my masters degree late due to a ridiculously long delay in visa, this was not a UK visa. My story is a stupid one but it is a true stupid story. My visa was delayed because the visa officer of that particular embassy did not believe that I had a scholarship and insisted on seeing funds in my own bank! I wish that nobody else will ever go through what I went through.
Please be patient, and do post back and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Satchi, thanks for your reply and kind words. It is really very sad about your visa story. I am just trying to be patient and hoping for the best. Yes, I do have to email my University about the enrollment date extension request hope they agree with the same. It is very much upsetting about the wait for the visa and all the pressure one goes through is very much annoying.
Regards Gemini
I am still awaiting for my visa guys. They even called me for second interview on 11Feb and said will give decision as soon as possible. But still nothing. My Uni also really supported me and gave me last extension till 19Feb but now they cannot and I am now at tremendous loss. I wish I should not have applied for UK Tier 4 visa as really I dont know why the visa officers take so much time. It is now 18 working days and still no decision. I am really saddened and upset with the processing time even after second interview they are thinking for decision makes me mad. Bad luck really.
